Legendary tenor-sax man Sam Butera continues to perform his tribute to another legend, singer, and band-leader, the late Louie Prima. Sam was the sax player for the Louie Prima band (featuring Keely Smith on vocals) for over 20 years, performing in all the hot clubs from Las Vegas to New York. Sam's band even had a cameo role in the movie "The Rat Race," with Debbie Reynolds and Tony Curtis.

Louie Prima's rendition of "Gigolo" was recorded and became a hit by David Lee Roth. "Jump Jive and Wail," a Louie Prima composition, was recorded by Brian Setzer, but you can hear Sam Butera and "The Wildest" play it everywhere they perform. It has become a staple of today's swing sound sweeping the nation. More recently, "Jump, Jive and Wail" was recorded by Sam and the band and used for a Gap TV commercial. Sam Butera's CD, "The Whole World Loves Italians," can be orderded through C.A. Cali Productions (please contact us directly for price and shipping information).

Sam and his outstanding 6 piece band travel across country, alternating between their Las Vegas home and Atlantic City. The band even has some European dates booked. Sam and the guys also love playing in his home town of New Orleans, and perform there whenever they can. During any of their 2-3 set performances, this dynamic sextet plays everything including swing, jazz, Italian, and standards.

Sam Butera can still sing, joke and play sax with the best of them. For a journey down memory lane ("that's what it's all about folks, memories," says Sam) catch "The Wildest" whenever and wherever you can! Of course you can book them right here on the website with C.A. Cali Productions.
